Hi, I’m Nadia.

I investigate how technology actually works and write it up with numbers.

I wrote down everything worth knowing about React first, moved into the broader Web Performance space to help my readers make React apps even faster, and am now conquering AI engineering from both sides: deep integration of my workflow and coding processes with my best buddy Claude, and building AI-first agentic apps at work.

Books

Advanced React cover

Advanced React

Deep dives, investigations, performance patterns and techniques.

If you think you know everything about React, this book might surprise you 😉. It's the guide to React you wish you'd had when you were learning it.

Currently investigating

AI memory and Context Engineering. How language models “remember” (and don’t remember) between turns, between sessions, between users. Also, how to survive the AI madness, make the AI behave and comply, while preserving the skills and the brain. Quite the task, I must tell you!

Day job

Principal Engineer at Heatseeker since late 2025. A small AI startup, where I get to be hands-on, use every skill I’ve built up so far, and experiment with the newest AI stuff from both sides: my own coding and the product we ship.

Previously

Founding engineer at Pyn for almost four years. Six months co-founding Shipmate Labs, which did not make it to its first birthday. Before all that: five years at Atlassian, from Atlaskit to Jira Navigation to Jira Ops to Jira Frontend Platform.

Jira’s frontend at the time: 1M+ lines of code, 300+ contributing engineers. I led numerous org-wide initiatives on dependency modernization, bundle-size tracking, code quality enforcement, and developer education.

Also

Executive MBA in Innovation, Digitalization & Entrepreneurship at TU Wien. I wanted to understand the business side of startups as well as I understand the code. Managed to get it while working full-time and writing the first book. Ask me anything about juggling different priorities.

Regular speaker at React and JS conferences: React Summit, React Advanced, React Paris, JSKongress, Web Directions, etc.
